We strongly recommend that you DO NOT get involved with drugs, the person in this next scam was relatively lucky and could easily have been sent to jail for a long time or in certain countries have been sentenced to death.
Whilst chilling out for a couple of weeks two mates had become ‘friends’ with a local lad. The local lad had been showing them the sights and supplying them with some marijuana. On their last night their new friend asked if they wanted to accompany him to the beach for a last smoke. The two friends saw no harm in having a last smoke with their new friend. As the mates were lighting their first joint two off duty policemen tapped them on the shoulder. Their badges were flashed and the offending joint confiscated. The local man was told to disappear. The two off duty policemen demanded $200 cash off each of the remaining lads. The two friends were threatened with arrest unless they came up with the cash pronto! The cash was paid and the friends were left with a big lesson learned.
We have since learned that the local police use these locals as decoys to gain money from people in this way. $200 is the equivalent of 6 months wages in some of the areas where this scam can operate!!!!
